Arvada City Government

Citizens of Arvada depend on their city government to provide a variety of services delivered in a professional manner and in an efficient and cost effective way. In Arvada those services include police officers, street maintenance, transportation and traffic control, clean water, a waste water system, accessible parks and trails, thoughtful planning of new neighborhoods, and more. Some other important services are provided through partnerships with outside agencies and organizations. For example, fire and paramedic response is provided by the Arvada Fire Protection District. Recreational and sports opportunities are available through North Jeffco Parks and Recreation District. Library services are the responsibility of the Jefferson County Library system.

All of these services are the result of highly trained, experienced men and women who are committed to meeting the challenges and demands they encounter everyday. It is the employees of Arvada, people just like you, who make your community a great place to live and work. Every day they are "Continuing to Build a Great Community."

The City of Arvada has a council-manager form of government. Citizens elect representatives (a Mayor and six Council Members) to make decisions and take action on issues in Arvada. The Mayor and Council Members are responsible for listening to the needs of citizens, paying close attention to things taking place in the Denver region that may affect Arvada and making decisions that will ensure the stable and secure future of our community.

The City Council appoints a City Manager to oversee the daily operations of the City and manage the work that is being done. The City Manager hires professional Department Directors; it is the Departments and Divisions that ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of services.
