Arvada Demographics

Arvada is a constantly changing community which seeks to accommodate the needs of the future, while maintaining a hometown feel and its historic roots.

Arvada was a pretty sleepy little place until the 1950's when the prosperity of the post World War II period and the opening of the Rocky Flats plants created tremendous growth. In 1950, Arvada has 2,359 persons and occupied less than 4 miles of land area.

Five decades later, we find ourselves having a 2004 estimated population of 103,400 which now occupies over 35 square miles of land area.

Over time, our demographics characteristics have changed from large and relatively young households to smaller households that are more diversified in terms of age, ethnicity and family structure. Like the rest of the nation, Arvada faces the opportunities and challenges that come from a constantly changing population.
